HB 1161 Would Expand "Lawsuit Lending" in Tennessee, Should Be Stopped

Blogger George Scoville writes, "The litigation finance cottage industry, which has been highly restricted in Tennessee in the past, would enrich financial institutions (and trial lawyers) at the expense of aggrieved plaintiffs–not necessarily at the barrel of a gun, but at the swing of a gavel–if lawmakers allow it to expand."

He urges Tennessee lawmakers to "discard" HB 1161, "into the dustbin of many other bad ideas that special interests have proposed in our state’s history, as it would let slip the dogs of exploitation."
